In Egypt, under Article 341, defaulting on small loans is a criminal offense, sending tens of thousands of women to prison each year. Breakchains with Blockchain transformed NFTs into a tool for liberation, creating a collection where each piece of digital art was priced to pay off a woman’s debt and bring her home.

The campaign generated more than 100 million engagements, reached over 26 million people, and earned more than $10 million in media coverage. Within the first weeks of the campaign, 17 women were freed, while 60 members of parliament signed a bill supporting legal change around the cause.
